ctrlside runs on your Mac. Your code, prompts, screen and voice stay between you, your Mac and the agents you already use. Here is everything we do receive, and why.
What never reaches us
- Your code, prompts and replies. ctrlside passes them from your Mac to Claude Code or Codex, on your Mac. We never see them.
- Your screen. ctrlside captures it only while you hold Control, and attaches it to the task you're starting. It goes to your agent, not to us.
- Your voice. Turned into text by Apple's dictation, on your Mac where it supports it.
- Summaries of what your agents did are written by Apple's on-device model, on your Mac.
What your agents do with what you send them is covered by their makers' privacy policies (Anthropic for Claude Code, OpenAI for Codex).
What we do receive
- When you sign up on the site: your email and the answers you choose to give in the sign-up form (which agents you use, how many, your role, and optionally a phone number and comments). We use them to send you ctrlside and, if you ask, updates, and to learn who it's for.
- When you pay: Stripe handles the payment. We receive your email, your country and the status of your subscription. We never see your card number.
- Your license: it holds your email and subscription id. Near the end of each month, ctrlside sends it to ctrlside.app to renew it, and when you open Manage Subscription…. Nothing else is sent with it.
- Updates: a few times a day ctrlside asks ctrlside.app whether a new version exists. Like any web request, this shows our host your IP address. We don't store it or link it to you.
- Feedback: whatever you choose to send in the feedback form, with the ctrlside version, macOS version and plan, so we can fix things faster.
What we don't do
No ads, and we never sell your data. We count visits to this site with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. If you click OK on our cookie banner, Google Analytics also measures your visit with cookies, so we can see what brings people here (for example LinkedIn) and how many sign up. Click "No thanks" and Google Analytics sets no cookies. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser.
Who helps us
Vercel hosts this site and the license check, and counts visits. Google Analytics measures visits if you allow it. Stripe handles payments. Tally hosts our forms. Each only gets what it needs to do that job.
Your choices
You can ask us to show, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop sending you updates, at any time: the contact form, or reply to your Stripe receipt. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
